When it comes to reducing carbon emissions and improving energy efficiency, we are more aware than ever before of the positive steps we can all take to develop a greener future. With the 2040 deadline for the end of diesel and petrol car production looming, it's clear that alternative fuel vehicles have an important part to play on the road to greater sustainability.
Having worked with so many clients to ensure their buildings are more environmentally friendly, we feel it's important to lead by example. To that end, we're pleased to announce the launch of our new fleet of 100% electric cars, signifying our commitment to improving our carbon footprint wherever possible.
We are now the proud owners of four 'zero emission' New Nissan LEAF vehicles - the British-built car awarded Best Electric Car at the WhatCar? 2018 Awards. By swapping our company cars to 100% electric, we hope to contribute to better air quality within the areas we live and work. Other benefits include reduced running costs in comparison to regular petrol or diesel cars, support through government incentives, and exemption from the forthcoming Ultra Low Emission Zone in London.
The new vehicles feature the latest innovations including a state-of-the-art lithium-ion car battery which is safe, compact, powerful and durable. And with more electric charging points becoming available, the technology is now a commercially viable and cost-effective option.
Our cars are not the only way we're helping to protect the environment, we also have a 'cycle to work' scheme that supplements employees with the cost of buying a bike, as an alternative to commuting to work by car.
Efforts to encourage cycling has clearly inspired our workforce, with several members of our team completing the 2017 London to Brighton bike ride, raising over £3,000 for children's charity Coram.
Thanks to our years of expertise and commitment to staff training, we're able to significantly improve our clients' environmental credentials on every project. Accreditations such as ISO 50001 and ISO 14001 equip our organisation with the knowledge to introduce energy saving and sustainable measures into all of the services we provide.
Not content to stop there, other recent environmentally friendly measures in our offices include the reinforcement of our QSHE department to better control our internal processes, and the introduction of a paper-less CAFM system, reducing our total paper consumption.
Placing the environment at the heart of everything we do is vital to the long-term success of our business, as it must be for all forward-thinking organisations.
